Brian Volpp, M.D., is a radiation oncologist at Palomar Pomerado Health, with a special interest in integrative and complementary cancer medicine as well as palliative care/pain management.
He completed undergraduate work at Princeton University where he graduated cum laude and Academic All-Ivy League with a degree in history and a certificate in American Studies. He also was a four-time varsity letter winner in baseball and played two seasons of semi-professional baseball prior to starting medical school. His post-baccalaureate study was a dual MD/MPH program, studying medicine in his adopted home state of Nevada and public health administration at Loma Linda University, where he was selected to the Delta Omega Honor Society. He did his residency in preliminary medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, followed by radiation oncology training at Kaiser Permanente (also in Los Angeles).
Dr. Volpp has published research on spinal cord tumors and prostate cancer and will be starting IRB-approved clincal trials in hypofractionated stereotactic radiosurgery in lung and prostate cancer along with antioxidant trials in the setting of concurrent radiotherapy.
